Tests and Chest X-Ray

Gonorrhea test is a rapid immunochromatographic test for qualitative detection of Neisseria Gonorrhea from swab and human urine.

Gonorrhea is a rapid test for the visual detection of Gonorrhea antigen in the secretory specimen from urogenital system, as in aid in the diagnosis of gonococcus infection. Gonorrhea is one of the common sexually transmitted diseases (STD) in the whole world. Incidence of a disease is increasing year after year. It is the key approach to early and fast diagnosis for early treatment and shutting infection off. Nowadays Neisseria Gonorrhea is the major pathogenic bacteria for many developing countries.

Applicants fifteen (15) years or older are required to provide a urine test for Gonorrhea. If the result is positive, it does not necessarily mean that the applicant has Gonorrhea or will get it. Another confirmation test will be done. If the 2nd test confirms the previous result, the applicant will be treated here in our medical center which will take weeks.  Weeks later, the results of the test will be provided to the consular office. A positive test result will mean the applicant is not eligible to receive a visa if not treated here. The Gonorrhea test is valid for 3 months.

Important Notice: You should not urinate in the morning after 7.00 am before your medical appointment. Your first urine will be collected for the gonorrhea test. If you urinate, the test may not show the correct information, resulting in a second test on another day. Do not collect your own specimen.

SYPHILIS TEST

CHEST X-RAY

Applicants fifteen (15) years or older are required to obtain Chest X-ray at our facility. If you have a previous Chest X-ray you may bring it to assist the radiology specialist to make a comparison in some certain diseases.

SPUTUM TESTS

If the Chest X-Ray findings are suggestive of tuberculosis, the applicant will be required to provide three sputum specimens on three consecutive days to undergo microscopy for AFB, as well as culture for mycobacteria and confirmation of the Mycobacterium species, at least to the M. tuberculosis complex level which may take an additional 8-10 weeks. After the process the results of the test will be provided directly to the Consular Section. In such a case, we will instruct you to attend your immigrant visa interview, and your case will be pending for the medical results. The Consular Section will inform you of next steps, once they receive the medical examination form from us.

When genetic testing appears warranted, a Consular Officer may suggest visa applicants undergo DNA testing to establish the validity of the relationship(s). The panel physician will conduct the DNA sampling. More information can be found at the U.S. Embassy Tirana’s website and Bureau of Consular Affairs’ website.
